About Us

Joseph L. Mendelsohn, CPA received his B.S. in Accounting from SUNY at Geneseo in 1982. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1985. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

During Mr. Mendelsohn's career he has worked at small CPA firms, medium-sized CPA firms and a "Big Eight" CPA firm (formerly known as Coopers & Lybrand LLP).  While employed at these firms, he was exposed to a wide array of accounting and tax issues. He has handled individual and business clients of all sizes and in many different industries.

Prior to starting Joseph L. Mendelsohn CPA in 2007, Mr. Mendelsohn was the partner in charge of Charles Brucia & Co's tax department. In addition, he was responsible for the firm's high net worth business management clients providing both tax and financial strategies to preserve and build wealth.

Mr. Mendelsohn has extensive experience and knowledge in a wide range of tax areas including, but not limited to, individual, partnership, corporate, trust, gift, estate, sales tax, as well as, state and local. Mr. Mendelsohn also has the accounting experience and knowledge to structure the accounting systems of businesses of all sizes and industries.

Mr. Mendelsohn is also a devoted family man. He has a wife Susan, who is an accountant and works for the firm. He also has two children in college, his oldest, his son, attends The University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School of Business and his daughter, who attends Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations. In his free time, when he is not practicing accounting, playing golf, watching sports on TV, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
